"Ferrari's Ass is Mine"- Carroll Shelby

 0402-0207

In May 1963, a single

meeting in Modena

made it all personal.

When Enzo Ferrari pulled out of a deal to sell Ferrari to Ford, the embers of past bruises, losses of a friend and a desire to win big on the track drove Shelby and Ford to build cars to beat Ferrari. For Carroll Shelby and Henry Ford II it was now very personal.

Here we are dedicated to Carroll Shelby and the memory of his involvement in motor racing from 1962-1967. The site is managed by Archivea GmbH of Lugano, Switzerland, licensees of Ford Motor Company, The Henry Ford Museums and Carroll Shelby Licensing. Since 1975 we have been long time fans who grew up in Southern California in this era near where all of this was born. We have been blessed with having met and befriended many of the men in these photos. It was a golden age in American motorsports.

Here you will find photographs from many talented Ford Motor Company staff photographers from the era. Many photographs include those taken by or provided by Dave Friedman who has captured and preserved auto racing history through his photography. His work -- and his collection of works by other photographers -- documents key races, vehicles, drivers, and teams.

Most of the Friedman collected photographs are courtesy of The Henry Ford Museums, others are from Ford Motor Company 100th Anniversary and Shelby American's archives.

Our goal here is to share with fans and collectors the Ford powered vehicles from 1962 forward that evolved from the work of Carroll Shelby, Phil Remington, Ken Miles, Dan Gurney, Dave MacDonald, Bob Johnson,Dan Gerber, Bob Bondurant, Allen Grant and all of the crew and drivers of the era.
